Indian forces have made this commitment in the border conference between the two forces BGB and BSF at the sector commander level. It is seen as important in fulfilling the commitment of the two countries to bring the border killings to zero.
The conference was held at Benapole Sadar Camp Auditorium last Wednesday. In the conference, various issues including women and children trafficking, drug and arms smuggling, border killings were highlighted on the part of Bangladesh. In particular, the BSF personnel were urged to stop over-aggressive behavior and firing on unarmed people. The Indian side then promised not to fire again.
It should be noted that Bangladesh-India border has become the deadliest border in the world even if there is no state of war. Bangladeshis are constantly losing their lives in firing by the Indian Border Guard Force BSF. There has been intense criticism over the years. International human rights organizations have repeatedly accused India of human rights violations. There is strong reaction between the two countries over the issue.
The issue has been discussed repeatedly between the two countries. It is said that the two countries want to bring down the border killings to zero. However, although the killings have decreased slightly compared to the past, they have not stopped completely. In this situation, BGB highlighted the issue strongly in this conference on Wednesday.
