But Abdur Rahim of Bangladesh has been selling jhalmuri in London, the capital of England, for several years. He moved to England to spin the wheel of fortune, today he met that fortune by selling Jhalmuri.
Abdur Rahim of Barisal spent about one and a half lakh rupees to turn the wheel of fortune and crossed to Dubai in the Middle East 16 years ago today through a broker. But the brutality of the physical work, the extreme heat and the cramming of 20-22 people together in small huts made Dubai unfavorable for him. He worked as a construction worker in Dubai. Then he took the hand of another broker and moved to Brazil for a few years and finally moved to London one day. By that time, he had spent almost 5 years abroad. Little education, poor English language and physical weakness did not do much for him on the soil of England. Then one day I thought how would it be if I sell Jhalmuri. He spent approximately 35 dollars and procured a wheelbarrow and other necessary materials. Then he started jhalmuri business. Abdur Rahim's floating jhalmuri shop is now located next to the vegetable market in Whitechapel, East London.
In response to the question why the idea of selling jhalmuri came to his mind, Abdur Rahim said that when he returned home after working all day, he made jhalmuri and fed it to his companions, who appreciated it very much. Most of his companions were from the Philippines, Africa or Morocco. Currently, he is doing very well with this business. Sending money every six months.
