[Research] People who work harder are more likely to develop diabetes

There are three types of diabetes worldwide, type-1 diabetes, type-2 diabetes and gestational diabetes. Type-diabetes is curable, gestational diabetes occurs in mothers during pregnancy but is temporary. But the most feared type of diabetes is type-2 diabetes. A study by the University of London found that people who work 55 hours a week (normally 48 hours a week) but are not so health conscious. They are more likely to develop type-2 diabetes.

The University of London study surveyed about 222,120 men and women from several countries. Analysis of the data shows that they have an increased chance of developing type-2 diabetes in about 30 percent of cases. Most of the people who took part in this survey were employed in low-wage jobs requiring them to work 55 hours a week. The survey also looked at their health factors such as smoking, physical activity and age.

The researchers say that in this case they should work with a little break between their daily work. So that it keeps their body's normal insulin levels under control and does not increase the chances of type-2 diabetes. And besides that one should be aware of diabetes as much as possible.
