Retrial process of Felani murder case is starting again. The hearing of the case will be held at the General Security Force Court set up at BSF's sector headquarters in Cooch Behar, India. Felani's father Nurul Islam is scheduled to testify in the BSF court on November 17.
Acting Director of Kurigram 45 BGB Battalion Major ATM Hemayetul Islam confirmed this. He said, on behalf of 181 battalion of BSF, Commandant VP Badla said this on telephone on Friday afternoon.
He requested Felani's father Nurul Islam, BGB director and government lawyer to go to India next year to testify. He also requested the delegation of 3 members including Nurul Islam to attend the special court on Monday.
If everything goes well, a delegation of 3 members will leave for India tomorrow. The members of the delegation are Felani's father Noor Islam, Acting Director of BGB Major ATM Hemayetul Islam and government lawyer Advocate Abraham Lincoln (PP).
Note that on September 26, a 3-member delegation left for India at 9:30 a.m. to testify in the same court. They returned from Barabari area of Lalmonirhat district as the retrial process was suspended.
On January 7, 2011, Bangladeshi teenager Felani was returning home with her father from India through Anantpur border in Phulbari. He was brutally shot dead by the BSF while he was crossing the Kattar fence by ladder at night through Dalal. His body hangs on the barbed wire fence for 5 hours.
When this incident drew a storm of criticism from the media and human rights activists of the country and abroad, the case started accusing the accused BSF member Amiya Ghosh. Amiya Ghosh was acquitted by a special court on September 6, 2013.
