The most talked about topic of Modi's visit to Dhaka was the Teesta Agreement. However, before the visit, India has informed that there will be no decision on the Teesta agreement for the time being. The matter has already been confirmed by the Foreign Minister of India. However, Bangladesh's Foreign Minister AH Mahmud Ali urged the people to be patient. In a press conference on the occasion of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Dhaka yesterday, he said that Bangladesh will continue diplomatic activities even if the Teesta Agreement is not signed during Modi's visit.
Narendra Modi has posted on social media about the detailed program of his visit to Bangladesh. Modi wrote there that this visit to Dhaka will bring benefits to the people of the two countries and South Asia at large. As many as 22 agreements and memoranda of understanding, including bilateral trade agreements, inland navigation protocols, coastal shipping agreements, are to be signed and renewed. Especially since the long-awaited border agreement has cleared all the hurdles, that agreement will also be a historic aspect of Narendra Modi's visit to Dhaka.
Meanwhile, India's West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee arrived in Dhaka before Modi arrived. An Air India flight carrying Mamata arrived at Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at around 8.40 pm on Friday night. Officials of the Ministry of External Affairs welcomed Mamata Banerjee at the airport.
It is to be noted that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to reach Dhaka around 10 am on Saturday morning on a two-day visit.
