Hundreds of leaders and activists of Hefazat Islam tried to go towards Shahbagh from the north gate of Baitul Mukarram in the capital through Paltan intersection. At that time the police stopped them. Police fired rubber bullets and tear gas shells to disperse them. At around 11:30 p.m., several hundred leaders and activists of Hefazat Islam want to go towards Shahbagh with sticks from the north gate of Baitul Mukarram. Police stopped them at Paltan junction. When they ignored the obstacles and wanted to go towards Shahbagh, a scuffle started with the police. At one point the police fired 40 rubber bullets and some tear gas shells to disperse them. Later they moved from there and stayed at the north gate of Baitul Mukarram. A large number of RAB and police are deployed at Paltan Junction.
When the Hefazat activists first wanted to gather in front of the National Press Club around 11:15 am, the police removed them. Then they came towards Paltan junction with a procession. At that time, the police dispersed them by firing blank bullets.
