He then returned the passport in the bag to the Saudi Embassy in India by post. Subrahmanyam Maddali stole the bag of Chennai Mail passenger Ruko Miga Mufiza Isa, a resident of Nigeria. Isa is a student of Annamalai University, Mumbai. Subrahmanyam Maddali stole the laptop and Rs 50,000 from Isa's bag but later delivered his passport to the university. Called Isa from a public telephone booth to find out if he got his passport back. This is how Subrahmanyam Maddali's theft business was going on. However, he was recently caught stealing the bag of Karnataka's Ataur Rahman Mohammad Hugar, who was working in Saudi Arabia in Mumbai. Subrahmanyam Maddali was caught by the railway police. He was wanted by the police for a long time on multiple charges including fraud and theft. The police identified him by looking at the CCTV footage of the station and his hat and sunglasses.
