According to a report published by UNICEF last Monday, a child dies every 10 minutes in Yemen due to malnutrition, diarrhea and respiratory diseases.
Merit Axel Rellano, acting representative of UNICEF in Yemen, said in a statement, "The current crisis in child health in this poorest country in the Middle East is unprecedented. There are more malnourished children in Yemen than ever before.'
Malnutrition is the leading cause of death in Yemeni children. Especially children under the age of 5 are dying more. Apart from that, their weight is also very less compared to their height.
Most of the children survive in skeletal condition. The most devastating bombings in Yemen took place in Saada region. That is why the growth rate of children in white regions is the lowest among other regions of the world. 8 out of 10 children are not growing for their age.
