The Dhaka Times Desk Myanmar's so-called pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi has denied allegations that Rohingya Muslims are being ethnically killed, saying Muslims killed Muslims in Rakhine.
In an interview with the BBC, he acknowledged the ongoing problems in the country's Rakhine state, but claimed that 'Muslims killed Muslims in Rakhine'. The whole world was shocked by Suu Kyi's statement!
Suu Kyi said there are many animosities in Rakhine state. But the term 'extermination' of a nation is quite a stretch for the situation there.
Myanmar's controversial leader Suu Kyi, who won the Nobel Peace Prize, faced the international media for the first time this year. When asked whether Suchi, a human rights ambassador and Nobel Peace Prize laureate, failed to stop the genocide of the Rohingya in his country, he dodged the accusation.
Suu Kyi said in the interview that there is enough hostility in Rakhine state, where Muslims have killed Muslims. There are many divisions among people. We are trying to reduce that.
In a long interview, Suu Kyi expressed her opinion on this issue and said that everything started from the attack on the police there in October. The military then tried to address the issue. In response to a question, Suu Kyi said that Rohingyas who went as refugees to neighboring Bangladesh would be welcomed if they wanted to return.
It is to be noted that Suu Kyi has been criticized worldwide for not opening her mouth against allegations of extreme human rights violations such as killing and rape by the country's army against Muslims in Rakhine State.
Suu Kyi's clear answer to that is, she is not Margaret Thatcher or Mother Teresa. He is just a politician. However, in view of everything, the former head of the United Nations, Kofi Annan, has been invited to Rakhine state again by the Nobel Peace Prize laureate Aung San Suu Kyi, the most controversial leader in the world.
