The Dhaka Times Desk Music artist and composer Lucky Akhand is no more. He fell seriously ill today (Friday) around 6pm and was taken to Midford Hospital where he was pronounced dead by the doctor on duty.
The news of Lucky Akhand's death was confirmed to the media by Ershadul Haque Tinku, a volunteer of the 'Shilpir Beside Foundation' organization.
Before this, he was admitted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University due to lung cancer. His family said that the doctors had given up on him.
It should be noted that this extremely popular singer of the eighties is also a music director, composer and lyricist. He was a brave freedom fighter. Lucky Akhand released his first solo album in 1984 under the banner of Sargam. But after the death of his younger brother Happy Akhand in 1987, this talented artist took a voluntary exile from the music industry. After almost a decade of silence, this multi-talented personality Lucky Akhand came back to the audience in 1998 with two albums 'Prichoy Kebe Hobe' and 'Vitrishna Jivet Amar'.
