BNP has returned to parliament. The entire nation is looking at the government and opposition parties

The Dhaka Times Desk After being absent for 83 consecutive working days, the opposition party led by BNP joined the budget session of Parliament on Monday. Now the whole nation is looking at the government and opposition parties.

Members of the opposition party walked out after two hours after joining the parliament session yesterday. The opposition party has also withdrawn the adjournment proposal given on the issue of non-partisan caretaker government. However, despite the walkout, it is said that the opposition party will return to parliament as usual on Tuesday. It has been reported from the media that it has been officially informed by the opposition party that they have decided to stay in the Parliament for the entire duration of the current session.

At 5:30 pm yesterday, 38 parliamentarians of BNP and partner parties entered the session room under the leadership of the opposition leader Begum Khaleda Zia, 20 minutes after the eighteenth session of the Ninth National Parliament, presided over by the new Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury. Leader of Parliament Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Deputy Leader of Parliament Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury, Finance Minister Abul Mal Abdul Muhit, Chairman of Jatiya Pati HM Ershad and members of parliament of the ruling coalition welcomed them. Speaker Shireen Sharmin also congratulated the opposition leader. Khaleda Zia saluted the new speaker before taking the seat of the opposition leader. Khaleda Jia also raised her hand and answered the greeting. Khaleda Zia walked out during the Maghrib break after staying in Parliament for 51 minutes. National and foreign media yesterday's main news was the national parliament. Because of the impasse that has been created across the country in recent times regarding the caretaker issue, the people of the country are hoping that a solution may be expected by joining the parliament of the opposition party. And so the countrymen were more interested in yesterday's parliament session.

Meanwhile, the question and answer session of the Parliament continued after the break of the Parliament session. Standing on point of order, barrister Maudud Ahmed, a member of the BNP standing committee, protested against the government's ban on public gatherings. After the speech, the opposition MPs walked out under his leadership. Earlier, opposition MP Rehena Akhter Ranu stood on the point of order and asked the Minister of Religion that thousands of their workers were killed in an attack on the peaceful position of Hefazet Islam in Shapla Chattar on May 5. Whether to take any initiative to prosecute those who killed the scholars indiscriminately. In response, the Minister of Religion said that not a single person died in Shapla Chattar that day.

Meanwhile, the joining of the opposition party led by BNP created a lively atmosphere in the National Parliament. Although they joined the parliament, they withdrew the adjournment proposal given on the caretaker issue. The adjournment proposal was withdrawn by BNP party MP Barrister Mahbubuddin Khokon. According to the decision of the parliamentary meeting of the opposition parties before joining the parliament, this adjournment proposal was withdrawn.

It should be noted that the opposition party returned to parliament on March 18 last year only for three working days. They left after the Maghrib prayer break on March 20 but did not return to the session.

Speaker's call for national consensus

At the beginning of the session, the country's first female speaker said in a welcome speech. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury paid deep respect to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and four national leaders. He said that differences and differences can be resolved through discussion in the larger interest of the country and the nation on matters of national importance. It is necessary to build a national consensus. Any problem can be resolved through discussion in parliament. I hope the MPs from the government and opposition parties will help me in conducting the session. Later he thanked the Prime Minister sincerely for electing him as Speaker. At the same time, he thanked all the parliamentarians including the leader and deputy leader of the opposition party.

It was decided in the meeting of the Working Advisory Committee of the National Parliament yesterday at 4:00 pm at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhavan, under the chairmanship of the Speaker, that the session of the Parliament will continue till July 3.

But since the beginning of the Parliament session, the nation has been looking at the ruling party and the opposition party. The countrymen hope that Parliament will discuss the next form of government and come up with a peaceful solution - which the nation desperately needs.
