The Dhaka Times Desk The UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women has given Myanmar an ultimatum to submit a full report on the rape and sexual harassment of Rohingya women.

The UN committee issued a call last Tuesday for details on why and how Myanmar's army carried out the rape and sexual abuse and how many girls and women were killed in their attacks.
In that ultimatum, it has been called to know whether the army personnel involved in these crimes and other criminals have been brought under the law and if so, how far their trial process has progressed.
The United Nations 'Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women' has been formed with 23 impartial experts. After receiving the report from Myanmar on the torture of Rohingya women, the committee will hand it over to UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres.
It should be noted that from August 25, the country's army and extremist Buddhists started a campaign of mass murder, torture, rape and arson against Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar's Rakhine State. At least 6,000 Muslims have been killed and more than 8,000 injured so far due to its brutality. More than 600,000 Rohingya Muslims have sought refuge in Bangladesh since the incident began. Global condemnation of this extreme humanitarian disaster continues.
