The country's first butterfly park was built on road number 15 of Patenga Naval Academy, adjacent to Shah Amanat Airport and Patenga Beach in Chittagong district, covering an area of about 6 acres. Although established in 2009, Prajapati Park was officially inaugurated in October 2012. There are more than 1000 butterflies of about 200 species in this park. Artificial breeding is also done by butterfly experts. March to August to September is the normal breeding season for butterflies.

There are numerous colorful butterflies and the Butterfly Museum is located just ahead of the Butterfly Zone. Different types of butterflies from home and abroad are specially arranged for display at this place. In front of the butterfly museum there are also some interesting rides for children to play. Sampan boat trips are available in the park's reservoirs. Prajapati Udyan also has good facilities for organizing banquets, as well as conference rooms for various types of events. There are also modern rest house and restaurant facilities.

The Butterfly Park is open seven days a week from 9:30 am to sunset. The park restaurant is open daily from 10 am to 11 pm.
Butterfly Park entry ticket price for Bangladeshi adult citizens is Tk 100 per person, children entry price is Tk 50 per person. Also, the entry ticket price for SAARC nationals and other foreign tourists is Tk 150 per person and Tk 200 per person for children respectively.
Prajapati Park Resort Standard category rooms are priced at Tk 5,000 (per night), Super Deluxe category rooms are priced at Tk 6,500 (per night), Prajapati Suites are priced at Tk 8,500 (per night). 10% service charge and 15% VAT are applicable along with the room rental price.
