The Dhaka Times Desk Popular actor Abdul Quader passed away. He died today (Saturday) at 8:20 am while undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in the capital (innalillahi wa inna ilahi rajioon).
Abdul Quader was 69 years old at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife and a son and daughter. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed grief over the death of popular actor Abdul Quader. He said in a condolence message today (December 26), 'Abdul Quader will live in the hearts of people through his smooth and spontaneous acting.'
The Prime Minister prayed for the bereavement of the departed soul and expressed his deepest condolences to the bereaved family members.
Earlier last Thursday (December 24) around 12 o'clock in the night, his physical condition suddenly deteriorated. Later he was taken to the ICU from the Corona Unit.
Abdul Quader, who is suffering from cancer, was taken to Christian Medical College Hospital in Chennai, India for advanced treatment. He was brought back to the country on the evening of December 20. Then he was taken directly from the airport to Evercare Hospital. He was admitted there for a few days.
It should be noted that Abdul Quader made his name from the stage to television, then to films. In 1990, he reached the pinnacle of fame by playing the role of 'Badi' in the drama 'Kothao Kew Nei' broadcast on Bangladesh Television. He acted in hundreds of television dramas in his acting career. He was a regular character in popular magazine shows etc. He was mostly seen in comic roles.
In recognition of his long acting career, this talented actor Abdul Quader has also received several medals including Tenacious Medal, Mahanagari Cultural Forum Medal, Jadukar PC Sarkar Medal, Pioneering Cultural Group Medal, Television Audience Forum Award, Mahanagari Award.
