The Dhaka Times Desk Drinking too much soft drinks may increase the risk of asthma. This information has emerged in a recent study. A team of researchers from the University of Adelaide conducted the study.
Jumin Shi, the head of the study, said that the researchers started researching asthma in 2008. They have so far conducted a survey of 16,907 Australians aged 16 and over. It found that Australians with asthma drank more than half a liter of soft drinks a day. Those who drank relatively few soft drinks had nowhere near as much asthma.
Jumin Shi said, “Our aim was to investigate why people still develop diseases such as asthma despite living a healthy lifestyle and eating a moderate diet. We know through research that people are suffering from asthma even if they are not addicted to smoking or alcohol. People who lead a regular life are also affected by asthma. This is due to excessive consumption of soft drinks.”
