The Dhaka Times Desk 6 cases have been registered against Minister of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Abdul Latif Siddiqui for insulting Hajj and Tabligh.
6 separate cases have been filed against controversial minister Latif Siddiqui in Dhaka, Chittagong and Sylhet for insulting Hajj and Tabligh. These cases were filed on Wednesday on charges of hurting religious sentiments.
2 cases have been filed in the CMM court of Dhaka. Abed Raja, former president of the Metropolitan Bar Association, and another lawyer filed this case at around 10 am.
Abed Raja, the plaintiff in the case, told the media that Latif Siddiqui had talked about religion several times before. This time he insulted Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH), Haj and Tabligh Jamaat. Which the pious Muslim society of this country cannot accept. And so the case has been filed. The plaintiff in the case hopes that the court will make a proper decision.
South district BNP leader Iftekhar Mohsin, lawyer Abdus Sardar and another woman lawyer filed 3 cases against Latif Siddiqui in the CMM court of Chittagong at around 11:30 on Wednesday. These cases have been filed in the court of CMM Mosiur Rahman.
On the other hand, advocate Masudur Rahman Khan Munna filed a case against Latif Siddiqui in the Sylhet Metropolitan Magistrate Court today at 11:30 am. The hearing of the case has been completed. The judge said that he will give an order in the afternoon in this regard.
It is to be noted that Latif Siddiqui insulted the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Hajj and Tabligh at a reception in New York on September 28. At this time, he also taunted Sajeeb Wazed Joy. There was a lot of criticism at home and abroad. There were demands for his removal from the cabinet. In a meeting of the cabinet yesterday, it was decided to remove him. However, the Prime Minister will take action against him on his return to the country.
