The Dhaka Times Desk The International Criminal Tribunal has ordered the execution of Mubarak Razakar in a verdict. On Monday, he was sentenced to death in the case of crimes against humanity during the liberation war.
Mobarak Hossain of Brahmanbaria, who was arrested in the case of crimes against humanity during the liberation war, was sentenced to death by the International Criminal Tribunal on Monday. The verdict was delivered by a 3-member bench headed by Justice M Inayetur Rahim, Chairman of the International Criminal Tribunal-1. The other 2 members of the bench are - Justice Jahangir Hossain and Justice Anwarul Haque.
The court sentenced him to death on charge number 1 of the 5 charges brought against him. Besides, the court sentenced him to life imprisonment on charge number 3 and acquitted him on the remaining 3 charges.
Shahidur Rahman, the prosecutor of this case, said that Mubarak Hossain took a stand against the liberation war in 1971. He killed freedom fighters with the help of Pak forces. He was hanged for this crime.
Mubarak Hossain is the son of Sadat Ali of Nayadil village of Akhaura police station in Brahmanbaria. Regarding his political identity, the investigating officer said, Mubarak Hossain was a member of the Jamaat after independence. Then he joined Awami League. However, Mubarak Hossain claimed in his testimony that he always supported Awami League. Still in Awami League. The charges brought against him are vindictive.
It should be noted that on June 2, the tribunal completed the judicial process and waited for the verdict. After 6 months of waiting, the verdict was announced today. Testimony against Mubarak Hossain began on May 20 last year. A total of 12 witnesses testified for the prosecution.
