All preparations have been completed in Dhaka Central Jail. Jamaat-e-Islami Senior Assistant Secretary General Muhammad Kamaruzzaman may be hanged tonight. The government's executive order for execution reached the central office on Saturday afternoon. The prison authorities read this order to Kamaruzzaman. Family members met Kamaruzzaman earlier in the evening. Kamaruzzaman's elder son Hasan Iqbal Wami said, "According to his (Kamaruzzaman's) last wish, he will be buried next to the Kumri Bajitkhila Orphanage established by him in Sherpur."
Reliable sources in the prison said that all the preparations for the execution of Kamaruzzaman have been finalized. He is likely to be hanged between 10:00 and 11:00 this Saturday night.
Meanwhile, extensive security measures have been taken in the main gate of Dhaka Central Jail and surrounding areas in view of the execution. Apart from the deployment of prison guards, a large number of police and RAB personnel have been deployed. The police has ordered the closure of shops around the central jail from evening onwards. On the other hand, all the nearby roads have been closed. Media workers are thronging in front of the prison on the news that the execution will be carried out.
According to a source related to the prison, 3 executioners have been kept ready for the execution of Kamaruzzaman. After the execution, the body will be taken to Sherpur tonight for burial.
