Dhaka Times Report. Chehlam was held on the occasion of the 40th birthday of legendary novelist Humayun Ahmed. On this occasion, Koran Khani and feeding orphans were organized in Nuhash village of Gazipur and a civic funeral was organized in Banani.
At the Banani DOHS Community Centre, Quran Khatam was recited throughout the day and Milad Mahfil in the evening, followed by prayers for the forgiveness of souls and later a civil funeral was held in memory of legendary novelist Humayun Ahmed. In this meeting, prominent citizens were present, Finance Minister Abul Mal Abdul Muhith, Nobel laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus, former supervisory advisor Justice Habibur Rahman, Jahangir Nagar University Vice-Chancellor Anwar Hossain, former supervisory advisor Rasheda K Chowdhury and Geetiara Safia Chowdhury were present. They discussed Humayun Ahmed's popular writings and various aspects of his life in the event. The speaker commented that the nation will remember forever what Humayun Ahmed has left for the nation. At this time, wife Meher Afroz Shaon, ex-wife Gultekin, Humayun Ahmed's younger brother Dr. Zafar Iqbal and his wife Yasmin Haque, younger brother Ahsan Habib, sister Sufia Haida's son Nuhash and many others were present.
Shaon fed orphan children in Nuhash village
His wife Meher Afroz Shaon fed the orphans raised by her own hands in Nuhash village on August 28, on the occasion of the Chehlam of celebrated fiction writer Humayun Ahmed. He was accompanied by two sons Nishad and Ninit, father Muhammad Ali, mother Tahura Ali and other family members.
On the occasion of the Chehlam of the late writer, around 200 orphans from nearby orphanages started reciting the Holy Quran from 10:30 am. They finish the Qur'an at noon. Many devotees have gathered at Nuhash Palli to pay their respects to the writer.
Shaon gave food to the orphans in front of the Rainforest Building of Nuhash Palli around noon. He said, 'All the children of the orphanages in the area of 10 to 15 kilometers around Nuhash village have been invited here today. I grow and feed myself. Humayun Ahmed loved to grow and feed himself.
Shaon told reporters, 'Today is 40 days since Humayun Ahmed left. Many do not have Humayun Ahmed. He is with me and my two children. He has no body, but He is always there.' Shaun wishes everyone to pray for the repose of the late author's soul. Pray for his two children. He said, 'Pray that they can be like father.'
About the two sons Nishad and Ninit, their mother Shaun says, they do not understand what Chehlam is. He does not understand that there is no father. Nishad thinks that her father will come sometimes. Father will come and leave with gifts while cutting the birthday cake. Shaon said, 'Nuhash went to the village and touched the grave of Nishad-Ninit's father. And says, 'We are worshiping father.' Pointing out that five-and-a-half-year-old son Nishad has changed a lot in the 40 days since he lost his father, he said, 'He has suddenly grown up. Asking me, "Mom, do you miss dad?" When you miss your father, you will love us”.
Shawon's father Muhammad Ali said that the orphans coming to Chehlam are being fed with rice, beef and mashkalai pulses. This food was very favorite of Humayun Ahmed.
It is to be noted that this famous fiction writer of Bengali literature passed away on July 19 in New York. On July 24, his body was buried in Lichubagan of Nuhash village in Piruzali village of Gazipur Sadar upazila.
Shawn visited her husband's grave with her children
Under the supervision of Maulvi Mujibur Rahman Munsi of Nuhash Palli, Quran reading started from 11 am. Milad Mahfil is held after Zohr prayer. Later Humayun Ahmed's wife Meher Afroz Shaon came to the grave with her two sons Nishad and Ninit and the orphan children of the madrasa. They visited the grave and prayed for Humayun Ahmed. Shawon's father engineer Muhammad Ali, mother Tahura Ali MP and other relatives and other people joined in the prayer. Muhtamim Hafeez Maulana Arifur Rahman of Piruzali Mahmudiya Hafizia Madrasa led the prayers.
