There are two methods you can use to turn off the lock screen in Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. You can completely turn off this default feature of Windows with either of the two methods discussed today.

Method 1: Group Policy Editor method

Method 2: Registry Editor method

Let's know about Group Policy Editor method:

1. Open the Run dialog box by pressing windows+R on the keyboard.

2. Then type gpedit.msc there and press enter. This will launch the Group Policy Editor on your computer.

3. Now what you have to do is first Computer Configuration then Administrative Templates then Control Panel from there enter Personalization

4. Now look at the right side of this panel, you will see Do not display the lock screen is written next to Not measured and double click it to Enabled. However, the lock screen will no longer appear.

The Group Policy Editor method is applicable to some laptops. But in many desktops it is observed as Error. So in this case you can use Registry Editor method.

Let's know about Registry Editor method:

1. Open the Run dialog box by pressing windows+R on the keyboard.

2. Then type regedit there and press enter. This will launch your computer's Registry Editor.

3. Now see there is a folder called HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. From there go to SOFTWARE then Policies then Microsoft then Windows and finally the Personalization folder. In many cases, there may not be a Personalization folder, in which case you create a New Key from the Edit button above and name it Personalization.

4. Now create DWORD NoLockScreen from the upper Edit button on the right side panel and give its value 1. One thing to keep in mind if you give value 1 it means lock screen is off and 0 will turn lock screen on.

5. Now restart the computer, you will see that the lock screen is no longer showing. And it takes less time to boot your computer. If you want to bring back the Windows lockscreen, follow step 4. You will see the lock screen again.
