The Dhaka Times Desk Many of our computers are infected with shortcut viruses. Even if you delete these shortcuts, they come back. It's actually not a virus but a VBS script. What do you do when faced with such a situation? So here are some tips to make this shortcut virus free for you.
For computers that are not infected:
1. Go to RUN. A window will appear.
2. Type wscript.exe and press Enter.
3. stop script after specified number of seconds: Apply with 1.
No shortcut virus will enter your computer from then on.
For affected computers:
1. Press ctrl+shift+esc on your PC.
2. Go to process tab and press show process for all users.
3. Find the wscript.exe file from there.
4. Click on End process.
5. Now go to your computer's C:/ drive.
6. Enter shift+delete all files named wscript in search box.
7. Skip the files which are not being deleted.
8. Now go to RUN.
2. Type wscript.exe and press Enter.
3. stop script after specified number of seconds: Apply with 1.
For affected pen drives:
1. Connect the pendrive to the computer then go to cmd.
2. Enter the drive letter of the pen drive and press enter. (eg: it could be I:/)
3. Now enter the mentioned code correctly. Code: attrib -s -h /s /d *.* Then press enter key.
4. Now see if the files stored in the pen drive are showing again? If shown, save the data and format the pen drive.
