The International Criminal Tribunal-II has awarded the maximum sentence of death against Mir Kasem Ali, a member of the central executive council of Jamaat-e-Islami and chairman of Digant Media Corporation, in the case of crimes against humanity. An excited Mir Kasem, who was present at the courtroom after the verdict was announced, became agitated. Exasperated Mir Kasem Ali stood in the dock and said, 'Oh Satan - this is a false case, a false witness, a black law, a faramaeshi judgment. Truth will be established, falsehood will be defeated. Shigari Shigari....'
At this time, Mir Kamem raised his finger and kept saying these words in a trembling voice. Then the police on duty brought Mir Kasem Ali down. Later he was taken to the tribunal's jail.
The court sentenced Mir Kasem to death by accusing him of charges number 11 and 12 in the verdict.
This complaint No. 11 is: 6 people including martyr Jasim Uddin were tortured after abduction. 5 people including Jasim were killed and later the body was lost.
Complaint No. 12 is: Jahangir Alam Chowdhury and 3 persons were kidnapped and tortured. 2 people were killed. Their bodies were lost.
Besides, Mir Kasem Ali was sentenced to 20 years for charge number 2, 7 years for charge number 3, 7 years for charge number 4, 7 years for charge number 6, 7 years for charge number 7, 7 years for charge number 9, 7 years for charge number 10 and 10 years for charge number 14. A total of 72 years of imprisonment has been awarded. However, Mir Asim Ali has been acquitted on charges 1, 5, 8 and 13.
Note that this is the 11th judgment of the Crimes Against Humanity Tribunal. Earlier, the court sentenced Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Matiur Rahman Nizami to death on Wednesday.
