The Dhaka Times Desk Uncertainty about execution of Jamaat leader Kamaruzzaman is still not over. Kamaruzzaman's lawyer called the law minister's statement a 'misinterpretation'. Kamaruzzaman's lawyer Shishir Monir said this at a press conference at the Supreme Court Bar Association conference room on Sunday afternoon.

Shishir Monir, the lawyer of Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretary General Kamaruzzaman, who was sentenced to death for crimes against humanity during the Liberation War in 1971, commented that 'the law minister has misinterpreted the law'. He said, 'Referring to Section 991 of the Jail Code, there is an opportunity to apologize to the President within 7 days from the date of hearing the verdict - but the statement made by the Law Minister is a misinterpretation of the law.'
Lawyer Shishir Monir said, "There is a provision of 15 days under the new jail code and 7 days under the old jail code to seek pardon from the president after receiving the death warrant." He termed Law Minister Anisul Haque's statement as 'false' and urged people not to be confused by it.
