The Dhaka Times Desk Prominent Islamic preacher Zakir Naik said in a video conference from Medina, Saudi Arabia that he will file a defamation case against 10 TV channels for allegedly 'exaggerating' his statements in the media.
Hyderabad-based English newspaper The Siyasat Daily published a news about this on Saturday. Zakir Naik said, 'I am preparing to file a defamation case against 10 TV channels for spreading false and fabricated news involving me in several terrorist attacks including Dhaka.' However, he did not mention the names of the accused TV channels.
Will you return to the country this year? In response to such a question, Zakir Naik said, "From where I am, I can give a good answer to the allegations raised against me."
So far, no investigating agency has been able to bring any such charges against him. Zakir Naik said, "Though there was nothing in my speech to encourage militancy, still 10 media outlets defamed me by muttering slander."
In that long video message, Zakir Naik also said, 'I am saying again and again, killing innocent people means killing the entire mankind. I hate militancy.' He condemned the terrorist attacks in France, saying, "I still don't know much about these attacks."
