The Dhaka Times Desk India has sentenced the accused to death for throwing acid on a woman at a busy railway station three years ago.

This judgment of the Mumbai court is being seen as a landmark judgment. A woman named Preeti Rathi was the victim of that day's attack. Preeti Rathi was 23 years old at the time of the incident in 2013. Preeti Rathi was scalded by acid while getting off the train from Delhi to Mumbai to work as a nurse in the Indian Navy.
It is known that a 25-year-old neighbor named Ankur Panwar threw acid on Preeti after she refused his marriage proposal. After this incident, Preeti Rathi died a month after suffering serious injuries to her lungs and eyes. A month after his death, the Supreme Court of India ordered the central and state governments to regulate the sale of acid.
Most of the accused in India's acid attack cases have not received any significant sentences so far. And so this judgment of the Mumbai court is considered very important.
