Yesterday Monday at 12:20 PM, his body arrived in Dhaka by a plane of Thai Airways. His body was then taken to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in an army pickup. Brigadier General Masood Razzaq, Director of the Directorate of Personnel Services of the Army, formally accepted his body. Prayers were held for the dead of Baad Zohar yesterday at Army Central Mosque and Testuripara. Currently, Ijaz Kaykobad's body is kept in CMH mortuary. Ijaz Uddin Kaykobad will be buried with full state honors at Banani Cemetery after prayers at Bad Johar Sena Central Mosque on Tuesday.
It is to be noted that on the night of April 28, when a fire broke out while rescuing garment worker Sahana trapped in the rubble of the collapsed Rana Plaza in Savar, some rescue workers including Kaykobad were severely burnt. He was first admitted to Savar Combined Military Hospital, but on the instructions of the Prime Minister, he was sent to Singapore General Hospital by air ambulance. This brave hero lost after fighting with death for 6 days in that hospital.
